Her husband is also employed with the club. She is a 32 year old mother of four children ages 19, 14 and has 5 year old twins. She was diagnosed just before Christmas and is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments to battle her illness. Stacey has been grateful for the patient aid services and financial aid she has received from LLS, and is proud to be honored as an “Honored Skipper” for the 17th Annual Leukemia Cup Regatta. Kendall Springmann, Age 4 - Leukemia Survivor
July 27th, 2007, just after Kendall's 2nd birthday, we took him to his Doctor because he was having problems breathing. His Doctor sent him to Children's Hospital with what he thought to be pneumonia. When we arrived at children's they knew right away that it was something else. On August 8th, 2007, after almost two weeks of test he was diagnosed with JMML, a very rare form of Leukemia. He started Chemo immediately and it brought relief from his cancer but it was only temporary. After 4 months of being in and out of the hospital ( a lot more in than out ) His Doctors found a perfect 6 out of 6 match and November 27th, 2007 we started the transplant process. On December 5th Kendall received a stem cell transplant from unrelated cord blood donor. The transplant was successful and after spending most of 2008 in Children's hospital Kendall is now trying to be a normal 4 year old. He was able to attend school for the first time ( pre-k 4 at St. Matthew ) and loves it. He had a set back in December and had to undergo Radiation treatments but came out of it with very little side affects.
Thank you to all of our participants for your support of this wonderful event.
